"We know how much women enjoy being with their friends and doing things together, so we are inviting women across the country to join together in 'giving circles' to benefit CARE's work around the globe," says Peggy Northrop, editor-in-chief of More. "Millions of women and girls live on less than one dollar a day, and empowering them is the key to lifting their communities out of poverty.

Your gift to CARE has a real impact on women and their communities around the world. Here are just a few examples of how your donation could be used:

$50 can send an Afghan girl to school for a year
$125 can train a woman in Nepal to teach maternal and child health in her community
$600 can keep 10 girls in Sudan in school and teach them about AIDS prevention
$1,000 can provide a day's supply of emergency rations to 330 families
$9,000 can pay for construction of a reservoir pond for a village with 1,000 people
