ADvantage Thinking
The first Apollo Moonshot landed 15 feet from its target,
yet it was off course over 80% of the flight. Frequent fine-tuning and course corrections
(adjust right! Or adjust left!) resulted in a successful outcome . Are your yearly goals
on course? The first half of 1997 is history. Is it time for you to fine-tune and course
adjust to hit your target for the year? As June draws to a close, reflection and
redirection could make the difference your best year ever or just another ordinary one.
Review your 1997 business plan.
You did set production goals, didnt you? ( If not, set them now, for the 2nd
half of the year).First, determine where you are year to date. Contrast to what would have
you "on target" at the halfway point. Now, needs to happen in the next 6 months
to get you there?
Coachs Tip> Plan reserve! Always figure 25%-50% above what you NEED or
expect. That "extra" that will make the difference when Plan "A"
doesnt work. Perhaps your original goal needs reassessing. An Awesome Performance
Goal that really excites you stimulates your creativity to design ways of getting there
that wouldnt surface without thinking "outside the box"! Dont go for
ordinary!
What are the actions that will get you
there?
Having identified your 6 month production goal , break down into monthly & weekly
goals and actions . How do you eat an elephant? (One bite at a time!)
Coachs Tip> Review this EVERY week and "course-adjust" your
prospecting actions for that week, consistent with your commitment to stay on track. Set
aside an hour or two every Sunday night or Monday morning to work on your business and
planning for the coming week. Then block the time for these the MOST IMPORTANT activities
(often not the most urgent, but the ones that will take you to your next level!)
Jumpstart your 2nd Half.
Build momentum with a Blitz. For the next two weeks, double or triple your normal prospecting
activities. You can do ANYTHING for 14 days!
Coachs Tip> Dont focus on the result, focus on taking consistent, daily
action. Once momentum is built, it is easier to keep it going . You will also notice, your
attitude improves, because you are in action
not a victim of your circumstances.
Find a Partner.
Someone who is also playing a big game, can help you see your blindspots, support you,
offer encouragement and help keep you on track because you have "gone public"
with your goals. My "exercise buddy" and I live in different cities, but we talk
every week on Saturday morning and support each other in our exercise goals! Its
kept me exercising for over 3 years now!
Coaches Tip> Pick one area of your life where you are ready to create breakthrough
results. Then-go public and find a buddy, coach or mentor who will hold you accountable!
Watch yourself soar!!! You are on your way to having the next 6 months be EXTRAORDINARY!!
