A Time Management Tip for this month:

What would a PERFECT WORKWEEK look like? Take a blank 7 day calendar and design it! Block time for yourself. Block time for those things you keep saying you want to do but don’t have time for (even just a couple of hours a weeks will make a difference-sign up for golf lessons or take a friend to lunch weekly). With my coaching clients, I ask them to block 1-2 rejuvenation days that they don’t work and the 1-2 Peak Performance Days where they work at 100% effort on dollar productive activities. Then the rest of the week is ordinary time.

A recent study found your effectiveness dropped the longer you worked over 40 hours per week. So, if you are working 60 hours a week at 60% effectiveness, you are working the equivalent of 36 hours at 100%. Wouldn’t you rather have 2 days a week off? Take back your life today!

You probably won’t be able to have everything fall into the Perfect week right away, but if you are diligent and keep it in front of you, scheduling things where they fit instead of at the whim of everyone else, you’ll start to have some freedom.

It’s hot here in Tucson: The weather and the markets! I am grateful to be alive!   I’ve been fortunate to travel to Las Vegas for the WCR Regional Meetings late last month and then to Hawaii for a couple of weeks before joining the WCR Region I Meetings in Coral Gable.

RVP’s Betty Kincaid, Margo Willis and Agnes Rishell worked hard to present AWESOME meetings! I presented programs on coaching at both Regionals and was struck by the real thirst for “HOW CAN I GET SOME OF THIS?” when I talked about balance.

Seems many of you are working yourselves to death. Please, STOP IT! Resolve that you will TAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF. Design the support systems and the habits that will allow you to enjoy your life. Give up the guilt…it’s OK to take days off. Go outside and watch the thunderclouds morph from rabbits to crocodiles and into angels! Listen to the sound of the children’s laughter. Enjoy an ice cream cone. Go chill out in a matinee movie.

 

Life is too short to waste it working all the time. It’s summer vacation…have some fun

  1. INTEGRITY: Do you keep your word impeccably? Even little things like being 5 minutes late can make you feel bad about yourself and you are out of integrity. Where are you not being the best you that you can be? Or, what are you doing that isn’t aligned with your heart and values? It is an energy drain when we are out of integrity with ourselves.
  1. Book Pick for the Month:

The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz

This little book full of wisdom only costs $7.77 at Amazon. The first agreement is to BE IMPECCABLE WITH YOUR WORD. Integrity with that can create miracles. The book is a quick read but it’s message is the simple formula to successful living.

3.  INTEGRITY Exercise

List everywhere you are out of Integrity with yourself and others. Instead of working on prospecting or building business, work on this list for 2 weeks and I’d wager you’ll find business coming to you! It’s the attraction principle.

Being Interested Vs Being Interesting

 DEFINITIONS:

Being Interested: Genuinely Listening To Another
Being Interesting: Trying to Impress

 COMPARISONS:

Connect vs. Impress

About THEM vs About YOU

EXAMPLE:  John’s listing presentation included pages of information about his awards and years of experience. He talked forcefully to be in control of the conversation and focused on closing every objection. Janette asked the sellers lots of questions about their future plans and ignited their excitement in the move they were making. She only shared information that fit their situation and listened to their needs.

KEY POINT: Much of the great stuff about us is not relative to the seller or interesting to them. They want to feel like you are taking care of their needs and their unique situation. The more you ask questions and listen, the deeper their experience of relationship will be with you. Remember real estate is NOT a numbers game in the 21st Century. It is a Relationship Game.

BENEFIT: The trust level and loyalty of a client is greater when you have built the relationship and they feel you are genuinely interested in their situation

COACHING ACTIONS: 

  1. Next time you are with a client, talk 50% less. A great salesperson realizes they have TWO ears and ONE Mouth for a reason and uses them in that proportion.
  2. Design a list of questions beyond what you are using now for each type of a prospect you work with (sellers, buyers, internet prospects) that deepens the relationship and allows you to gain more information about their motives and needs
  3. Keep your word impeccably
