THE COACHING DISTINCTION OF THE MONTH

    Intuition vs. Feelings

    DEFINITIONS:

Intuition: The inner voice that guides you
Feelings: The emotional cues you get, often triggered by fear

   COMPARISONS:

  • Heart vs. Head
  • Integrity vs. Instinct

EXAMPLE: When Joan listened to her intuition, she followed an inner voice that always was tied in with what was best for her. She found when she had a dilemma there was always an answer in her heart of what she should do. Tim let his feelings of not wanting to be rejected and not feeling confident persuade him to procrastinate and not take consistent action when it was time to prospect.

KEY POINT: Intuition is a feeling, but it is a deeper message that
is in tune with your values and your integrity.
Your feelings are subject to fears, past experiences
and are not reliable measures of whether you should take an action or not.

BENEFIT: When you trust you intuition, you are often led to actions
that produce surprising, unthought of results.often synchronistic happenings. When you accept that your feelings are just there to alert you to possible dangers and then YOU can make the most reasonable decision, given your commitment, you are not held hostage to or limited by them.

COACHING ACTIONS: Next time you have strong feelings, ask is this intuition or an unfounded fear? Take the time to distinguish between the two. Each day notice when you have listened to an intuition
and respected it. Also notice if you feelings are interfering
with what you say you are committed to.

    ADVANTAGE THINKING: Easy Does It!

<<>>  **  <<>>  **  <<>>  ** <<>>   **  <<>>  **  <<>>  **

All things are difficult before they are easy." Thomas Fuller

You've heard that the way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time!
(although, come on now.WHY would you want to do that?) But, seriously, to accomplish BIG dreams, we must break it down to achievable, easy actions over time. You've probably put off doing something because you don't know quite where to start or because the task looks so big you don't have the chunk of time you know it will require?
Perhaps you still have some software sitting in a box with cellophane because you don't have time to learn the time saving technology?
If so, you have a lot of company! One of the biggest challenges my
clients have is using their time effectively while also taking actions
to propel them forward in growth.
The mantra is "I want it all and want it now"!
Most people seem to think there is some secret they don't know
that can give them immediate success. We are a quick fix society..

Top producing sales people seldom naturally are content with
slow, effective, consistent actions that other personality types
seem comfortable taking. In order to break through previous barriers and remove the distractions and interference that hinder the full expression of your potential, you must shift your approach to make the building towards larger goals  the highest priority.
The challenge is changing the way you work so you can ultimately
be more effective. Change is never comfortable and there is struggle in giving up what has created the present success.

Darryl Davis, national trainer and creator of The POWER Program, has shown agents all over the country how to double their production by just getting 10% better each month. That cumulative effect over a year becomes 120%+.. In his program, for 30 days they focus on just one area of their business, such as the listing presentation, or negotiating, and then raise their standards and effective in that area.

You know you can achieve 10% increase in effectiveness this month!       Are you taking actions to have that happen?

Debbie Battersby, 1999 WCR National President, of RE/MAX Excels in Chicago was sharing with me that she can do 15 regular pushups.
What was powerful about this was how she's achieved that level of fitness: she started with just one and continued daily to do that for 10 days before adding a second one.
You CAN have it all, but it takes the time and discipline to build the
muscles!

COACHES TIPS>

1. Envision where you want to create breakthrough results for yourself. Give yourself a 6-12 month timeframe to reach this level.
Now decide looking backwards from being there, say a year from now, what will have to happen each month to get you there?
Write down the actions needed so you will attain your dream.
Then, EVERY DAY, review your dream and decide what the action will help you build toward it.
Even adding 1 phone call a day to your schedule will result
in 240 more calls this year.
Do you think that would increase your business?

2. If the "software still in the box", hit a nerve,
resolve to spend at least 15-20 minutes every working day to
increase your skill and knowledge level. Input into the databases for systemization, review the features your software has you don't use,
read the letters and reports and begin to personalize them,
create action plans.

To grow in your web savvy: use email daily, look at least one other agent's web site each day, read the daily posts at www.agentnews.com   and subscribe to the listserv RealTalk
(by emailing John@InternetCrusade.com telling him you want to subscribe).

3. Live each day with a determination to get better at something that day. Author Dan Millman in his book "Everyday Enlightenment" suggests that we treat everything we do as practice and that we practice taking it to the next level.even things like writing our name, standing in line and doing the dishes. How can you become better today?
And what do you think the cumulative effect of this would be over the next year?

So.....where do you want to be at the next level a year from now?
Start today (no, not even tomorrow, TODAY!)
Take baby steps and just do it!   You'll amaze yourself.

A Little Borrowed Wisdom:

"To follow, without halt, one aim:  That's the secret of   success."
Anna Pavlova

"Begin somewhere; you cannot build a reputation on what you
intend to do."
Liz Smith

"It doesn't matter what you are thinking or what fear you
have, if you just do it.
Action is the only thing that matters..
I can see that at the end of my life, I'm going to look back and
say, 'Gosh, I wish I had taken more action'."
